Weeds Season 7

I am satisfied with the ending of Weeds. While it has not yet been renewed for an 8th season, and I truly hope it does not, season 7 is the perfect finale for the series. As with most viewers of tonight’s episode, I have been with the show since the beginning. Yes, I spent seven years of my life watching the adventures of Nancy and her gang deal drugs and avoid getting caught by the authorities and criminal minds alike.

The series has ended many times before for me. Season 3 was the first finale of the series. I say this because it was the season finale that had Nancy move away from the suburbs and the first act of the story. The next few seasons would see Nancy dive deeper into the crime syndicate that deals with weapons and immigration while still keeping the main focus of the series, weed. Each season after season three, I would tell my self over and over again that this will be the final season I watch. But with each of my self made promises, I end up being dragged back in by gripping finale. But tonight’s finale was the best ending to Weeds that I am going to get.

Skipping all the New York bits from the beginning of the episode, the ending of the season was great. The viewers received closure to each of the characters. Nancy released Silas allowing him to pursuit his own happiness however he wanted, Shane repays his mother by protecting her from the authorities in his own way, Andy has his free-spirited large modern family, and Doug… well Doug continues to be Doug. We have a fantastic view of an at peace family, living in their large house with a vineyard. That is until the series ends in a Soprano’s type fashion, Nancy targeted, the screen goes black, and a gunshot is heard.

Sure, we get an ending that gives us both closure and one large question, who shot Nancy? My answer. Nancy has made many enemies over the past few seasons, so it could be anyone. All that the viewer knows, is that with the cut to black ending, we know the story will continue with out us. Or if it does get renewed, without me. I’m done. It has been good.
